Ceramics maker’s beckoning cats help lure tourists to central Japan

NAGOYA, Japan — A ceramics maker in central Japan’s Aichi prefecture is luring a new wave of tourists with maneki-neko beckoning cats. 

Chugai Toen offers maneki-neko with original designs made in collaboration with various artists. It also lets visitors paint their own plain ceramic cats.
