
CHENNAI — Perched on a fishing net off the Malabar coast of Kochi, southern India, I am watching the sky turn russet and purple as I feast on a traditional meal of rice, curry and lentils cooked by a fisherman’s family.
I am taking a tour with The Blue Yonder, founded by travel operator Gopinath Parayil, based in Kochi, which offers a range of immersive local experiences — from dining on a fishing net to exploring coastal fields where pokkali, a unique salt-resistant rice, is grown.
